Serena Lee, LCSW 121160
As a Taiwanese American child of immigrants with my own lived experience of trauma and mental health challenges, I have dedicated my therapist journey to discovering ways to heal from trauma. I want to acknowledge that the task of healing, which is often a lifetime, can appear daunting or even impossible to imagine—I know that first hand having been on "both sides of the couch." Even so, we see it time and time again when people emerge from their pain in such empowered ways that prove how deep and innate our resilience is. As your therapist, I commit to helping you attune to this empowerment as we explore your strengths, learn new grounding skills and psychoeducation, allow space for grieving, and foster authentic self-love.
I pull from a variety of therapeutic modalities to facilitate trauma healing, such as trauma informed stabilization treatment (TIST), internal family systems (IFS), somatic and mindfulness approaches, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and existential/psychodynamic therapy, among others. Many clients who come to me often identify as Asian American (Asian diaspora) folks or BIPOC, LGBTQ+ individuals, children of immigrants, and ex-vangelicals or victims of religious trauma. I also specialize in treating conditions such as complex PTSD, dissociative experiences and identities, borderline personality disorder, obsessive compulsive tendencies, and suicidal/self-harming tendencies.
Regardless of the stories and experiences you bring to our therapeutic space, I will meet you with curiosity and compassion, with a side of humor and gentle challenging whenever that feels beneficial and safe for our therapeutic relationship. If you’re ready to start this next season of your healing journey, feel free to reach out!
Beyond my life as a therapist, I love rock climbing, writing songs that capture unique human experiences, and exploring new coffee/tea shops where I can journal!
